Women’s Basketball Seeks to Extend Win Streak at Morgan State

Bison looking to push streak to double digits against Lady Bears

BALTIMORE (February 27, 2026) – Howard University women's basketball team seeks to extend its current win streak when to 10 when it travels to Baltimore to take on the Lady Bears of Morgan State University (MSU) Saturday (Feb. 28) in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) clash. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m., at Hill Fieldhouse.

Thursday (Feb. 26), redshirt sophomore guard April Edwards (Little Rock, Ark.) scored a career-high 22 points to lead the Bison to a 75-67 win over a determined Coppin State squad at Burr Gymnasium.
 
MORGAN STATE
 
The Lady Bears (4-24, 3-9 MEAC) are coming off a 69-60 loss to Norfolk State Thursday (Feb. 26) for their second loss in a row. Morgan State was led by Jael Butler with a double-double (17 points & 12 rebounds) and Kailyn Nash added 11 points.

Howard is led by Ty Grace (New Haven, '99), who is in her 11th season and the second winningest coach in school history. Morgan State is coached by Nadine Domond (Iowa, '98), who is in her first season at the helm.
 
SERIES RECORD
 
Howard has won eight-in-a-row, including a 71-57 victory earlier this season at The Burr (Jan. 24). In that contest, redshirt junior guard Zoe Stewart (Terre Haute, Ind.) led the way with 15 points. Morgan State was led by Nash with 15 points and seven rebounds.
 
The Bears last defeated Howard, 71-49, in D.C. (January 21, 2023).
 
The Bison lead the series, 16-10, since 2005.

Howard is holding opponents to 26-percent shooting from three and allowing only 61.3 points per game…Howard leads the MEAC in scoring (66.4 ppg), field goal shooting percentage (40-percent), three-point shooting defense (26-percent) and free throw shooting percentage (71-percent)…Nationally, the team ranks 19th in three-point shooting defense (26-percent)…Individually, senior forward Zennia Thomas (Cleveland) is 21st in free throws made and tied for 11th in free throw attempts…Thomas, the leading candidate for MEAC Player of the Year, leads the league in scoring (15.1), rebounding (7.8) and shooting percentage (45-percent)…Senior forward Nile Miller (Woodbury, N.J.), who is having her best season, ranks second in field goal shooting percentage (43-percent), third in steals, eighth in rebounding and seventh in rebounding and blocked shots.…Miller and Thomas are preseason First Team All-MEAC selections…Thomas has reached double figures in all but two games this season and has recorded nine double doubles…Stewart ranks second in field goal shooting (43-percent), fourth in three-point shooting percentage (35-percent), seventh in scoring (12.1), 10th in three pointers made, sixth in scoring (12.3 ppg) and fourth in field goal shooting percentage…Junior guard Destiny Bynum-Johnson (Newark, N.J.) is eighth in both three-point shooting percentage and three pointers made…Freshman Ariella Henigan (Chicago) is fifth in free throw shooting percentage (77-percent) and ninth in steals…Junior forward Rayne Durant (New Haven, Conn.) is ninth in blocked shots…The Bison finished the season undefeated at home for the first time in over two decades…Miller was named the MEAC Player of the Week (Feb. 23) for the first time in her career after being selected MEAC Defensive Player of the Week several times…Howard is beginning to get more consistent scoring and firepower from its bench with Bynum-Johnson, Durant, Edwards and freshmen guards Dylan Watson (Brooklyn, N.Y.) and Emma Nuquay (Waldorf, Md.) are all contributing to the team offense and defense with their specialties.

In the MEAC, the Lady Bears lead the conference in three-point shooting percentage (31-percent)…Tiyanna James ranks third in three-pointing shooting percentage (32-percent) and seventh in three pointers made per game…Nash is sixth in free throw shooting percentage and eighth in blocked shots…Mihjae Hayes leads the MEAC in in assists/turnover ratio.

Howard closes out the regular season Thursday (March 5) against the second-place Norfolk State Spartans at 5:30 p.m., while Morgan State closes out its season when its hosts crosstown rival Coppin State at 5:30 p.m.
