WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (October 8, 2026) — William & Mary (W&M) defeated the Howard University men's soccer team Thursday night, 4-0, utilizing three second-half scores.
W&M took an early lead, 1-0, into halftime after Gabe Ruitenberg found Aidan Gatchell for his fifth goal of the year.
After intermission, the Tribe extended its margin with a pair of goals from Gatchell and Brown Huffard, 3-0.
William & Mary closed out the scoring with Alex Kochell providing an assist to Beckham Harris for the insurance goal, 4-0.
Senior
Axel Chicas (Washington) and junior
Zach Simmons (Rockwall, Texas) each recorded a shot in the setback.
Fifth-year goalie
Joshua Snyder (Princeton, N.J.) got his first start in a Bison uniform, recording five saves. Senior goalkeeper
Ireal Wyze-Daly (Ontario, Canada) also saw action, playing nearly 10 minutes in the loss.
Overall, the Tribe outshot HU, 21-2. Gatchell leads William & Mary with five points (two goals & one assist) in the victory.
Thursday's showdown was the first meeting between both programs since Oct. 1996.
The Bison travel to play Stonehill College Sunday (Oct. 11) at Skyhawk Field in North Easton, Mass. The match is set to begin at 1 p.m.
