Men’s Basketball Goes to NCCU Saturday

Bison looking to keep momentum going against Eagles

DURHAM, N.C. (January 16, 2026) – Howard University men's basketball team goes to Durham, N.C., Saturday (Jan. 17), taking on North Carolina Central (NCCU) in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) showdown inside McDougald-McLendon Arena (3,500). Tipoff is set for 4:30 p.m.

COACHES
 
Howard is led by Kenneth Blakeney (Duke, '95), who is in his seventh season. NCCU is coached by Levelle Moton (NCCU, '96), who is in his 17th year and the winningest coach in school history.
 
THE SERIES
 
Howard (10-8, 1-2 MEAC) defeated NCCU, 82-78 (Feb. 8, 2025). The two have split the past six meeting but the Eagles hold a 15-7 advantage, dating back to 2011.

Monday (Jan. 12), sophomore forward Travelle Bryson (Anderson, S.C.) and senior guard Ose Okojie (Brampton, Canada) each scored 16 points to lead four Bison in double figures as HU pulled away to an 84-58 win over Delaware State at Burr Gymnasium.
 
NCCU
 
The Eagles defeated Morgan State, 89-78, Monday (Jan. 12) for their third straight win. Senior forward Khouri Carvey led the attack with 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting and eight rebounds.
