Men’s Hoops Squares Off Against Delaware State Monday

Bison seeking first MEAC win versus Hornets

WASHINGTON (January 11, 2026) – Howard University men's basketball team is seeking its first MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) win of the season Monday (Jan. 12), squaring off against Delaware State (DSU) inside Burr Gymnasium. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

COACHES
 
Delaware State is coached by Stan Waterman (Delaware, '89), who is in his fourth year at the helm. Howard (9-8, 0-2 MEAC) is led by Kenneth Blakeney (Duke, '95), who is in his seventh season. 
 
SERIES RECORD
 
In the last meeting (February 15, 2025), Delaware State snapped an eight-game losing skid to the Bison in Dover, 90-69. The two have met 32 times since the 2005-06 season and the series is deadlocked, 16-16.

Saturday (Jan. 10), sophomore forward Travelle Bryson (Anderson, S.C.) scored a game-high 18 points and guards Cedric Taylor III (Atlanta) and Bryce Harris (Brentwood, N.Y.) added 14 points and 12 points, respectively, but contributions the bench and balanced scoring proved to be the difference as Maryland Eastern Shore defeated the Bison, 69-57, inside the William P. Hytche Athletic Center.
 
DELAWARE STATE
 
DSU (5-12, 0-2 MEAC) is coming off a heartbreaking 66-64 home loss to Norfolk State Saturday (Jan. 10). Sophomore guard James Ponce led the way for the Hornets with 22 points and five assists.
