WEST HAVEN, Conn. (September 28, 2025) – Howard University men's soccer team held a halftime lead in its NEC (Northeast Conference) opener, but New Haven (UNH) responded with three second half goals to down the Bison, 4-2.
Howard grabbed the upper hand early on, 1-0, but the Chargers answered with a goal of their own at the 12-minute mark, 1-1.

Justin Mims (Norwalk, Conn.) found second-year Bison
Daniil Kaban (Kharkiv, Ukraine) for his second score of the year and gave HU a 2-1 halftime lead.
After intermission, UNH produced a pair of goals within a three-minute span and took its first lead at the 62
nd minute, 3-2.
With time dwindling, New Haven's Guilherme Meira added an insurance goal to seal the victory, 4-2.
The physical bout saw 23 fouls, including two yellow cards.
HU (1-7-1, 0-1 NEC) returns home Thursday (Oct. 2), hosting Le Moyne College in its NEC home opener. Match time is slated for 7 p.m., at Greene Stadium.
