MATCHUP PREVIEW
HOWARD
Howard (1-5-1) enters Tuesday's showdown fresh off a hard-fought 1-0 road victory at VMI Saturday (Sept. 20) — the Bison's first win of the 2025 campaign. HU will now test its form against a top-25 opponent in Duke.
Redshirt freshman
Naim Robinson (Detroit, Mich.) netted the game-winner in the 24
th minute and led the team with three shots.
Between the pipes, junior
Ireal Wyze-Daly (Ontario, Canada) stood tall, registering five saves to preserve the clean sheet.
Despite being outshot, 15-12, the Bison defense held firm and showed discipline in a physical contest that featured 28 fouls and five yellow cards.
Howard will look to carry that intensity into a challenging environment in Durham, aiming to disrupt Duke's rhythm and build momentum heading into NEC (Northeast Conference) play.
DUKE
No. 19 Duke (3-0-3) continues its undefeated run, following a 2-0 victory over Syracuse (Sept. 19) at Koskinen Stadium.
Jose Ortega opened the scoring early with his first goal of the season in the seventh minute. Returning from injury, Ulfur Bjornsson sealed the win with a strike in the 78
th minute.
Goalkeeper Eryk Dymora secured his second clean sheet of the season, making two saves and lowering his GAA (0.83).
The Blue Devils outshot Syracuse, 15-8, and controlled possession in the second half with a 10-4 advantage in shots.
Duke enters the matchup with a 9-4-5 record in ACC home openers under head coach John Kerr and will look to assert dominance against the visiting Bison.
LAST TIMEOUT
On Sept. 20, Howard earned a gritty 1-0 win at VMI with Robinson delivering the decisive goal and Wyze-Daly anchoring the defense with five saves.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
The Bison will head to Connecticut Sunday (Sept. 28) for a conference matchup against New Haven at 6 p.m., airing on NEC Front Row.
