BRIDGEWATER, N.J. (August 18, 2025) – The Northeast Conference (NEC) uncovered its women's soccer weekly honors where Howard University sophomore forward
Gabriella Garcia-Terrell (Centreville, Va.) took home the league's Player of the Week award. The announcement came Monday afternoon.
Garcia-Terrell, reigning NEC Rookie of the Year, led HU to its first win of the season after knocking off Hampton, 4-1, Sunday (Aug. 17) in the inaugural HBCU Soccer Invitational at Audi Field. The Virgina native scored twice after intermission in 62 minutes of action.
After opening weekend, Garcia-Terrell sits atop the NEC in goals scored (2) and total points (4).
Delaware State's Johonna Hornyak was selected NEC Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week.
Howard (1-1) returns to action Sunday, August 24, traveling to Huntsville, Ala., to take on Alabama A&M. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m. ET / 1 p.m. CT.
