WASHINGTON (July 1, 2025) – Howard University Department of Athletics rolls on with another Senior Spotlight, featuring two-time NEC (Northeast Conference) Champion and MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Champion
Joshua Siplin (Orlando, Fla.), who was interviewed by rising sophomore legal communications major
Tanbrance Berry.
Q: How did it feel to be chosen to represent Haiti at the Mexican National Amateur Championship?
A: As the son of a Haitian mother, it was truly an honor to have the opportunity to represent Haiti. It has always been a dream of mine to represent a country with such a rich history.
Q: As part of inaugural men's golf team, what does it mean to you to be a trailblazer?
A: Being a trailblazer means setting a precedent and paving the way for future generations. It is about creating a legacy and showing that with determination and passion, anything is possible.
Q: How has Howard prepared you for your future endeavors?
A: Following the completion of my MBA at Howard, I plan to pursue a career in finance. Howard has equipped me with the essential skills, knowledge and network to succeed in my future career. The university's emphasis on leadership, excellence and community has been instrumental in shaping my personal and professional development.
Q: What advice would you give your freshman self?
A: I would tell my freshman self to stay focused, embrace every opportunity and never be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Above all, remain patient and stay positive.
Q: What is a song you would use to describe your collegiate career at Howard and why?
A: No Excuses by FCG Heem because it embodies the spirit of determination, resilience and drive to overcome challenges, which perfectly describes my journey at Howard.
Q: What would you tell an incoming Bison who wants to play golf at Howard?
A: I would tell them to be prepared to work hard and stay deeply rooted in the process. Howard Golf is a program that values excellence and teamwork and being part of it is a rewarding experience that will shape you both as an athlete and person.
Q: What sports would I play if you were not playing golf?
A: If I were not playing golf, I would probably run track.
