MEXICO (June 8, 2025) – Two-time Northeast Conference (NEC) Champion
Joshua Siplin (Orlando, Fla.) accepted an invite to represent Haiti at the Mexican National Amateur Championship, which was held June 2-8 at the Guadalajara Country Club in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico.
The tournament featured 144 international amateur golfers from 12 countries.
The Florida native made his debut as a member of the Haiti National Golf Team, playing in the 72-hole event with a cut after 36 holes.
Carlos Astiazaran won the 97
th Mexican National Amateur Championship, delivering an 11-under par (277) effort, including a 68 (-4) in the final round. He edged out a trio of players, who tied for second at 8-under par (280). With the victory, Astiazaran secures the Percy Clifford Cup and positions himself for future international opportunities, including potential exemptions into the U.S. Amateur and Latin America Amateur Championship.
Siplin wrapped up his collegiate career with a pair of NEC titles (2024 & 2025) and the 2022 MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Championship.
