WASHINGTON (June 13, 2025) – Howard University women's soccer team added seven new faces to the 2025 roster, including four transfers and three rookies. The announcement came Friday.
"We are extremely excited to announce our 2025 incoming class," said Howard women's soccer head coach
Brent Leiba. "With these fantastic additions, along with our returning players, we are in a strong position to defend our conference regular season and tournament championships. This incoming class will help us build off a phenomenal year and position us for the future. GO BISON!"
Last season, the Bison had a historic year, winning the NEC (Northeast Conference) Regular Season and Tournament titles while earning a NCAA Tournament appearance.
Here is more information on the seven newcomers in alphabetical order by last name:
Amira Elrington-Edwards (Long Island GA / Elmont Memorial H.S. / Elmont, N.Y.) – Midfielder
Elrington-Edwards hails from Elmont, N.Y., where she won conference player of the year twice. Additionally, the four-time MVP earned All-Long Island First Team and All-County team four times.
Sienna Hamilton-Grein (Florida Premier ECNL / Henry A. Wise H.S. / Upper Marlboro, Md.) – Goalkeeper
Hamilton-Grein arrives to The Mecca after a successful run with Florida Premier ECNL and Henry A. Wise H.S. Last season, the three-time MVP was named to the All-County First Team while graduating top five in her class.
Adora Nwosu (Tennessee SC ECNL / Aaron Academy / Ole Miss / Murfreesboro, Tenn.) – Forward
Nwosu hails from Murfreesboro, Tenn., after one year at Ole Miss, making the Dean's List both semesters. In high school, she played soccer and basketball at Aaron Academy.
Demi Owens (STA GA / Teaneck H.S. / Temple / Teaneck, N.J.) – Forward/Midfielder
Owens arrives at The Hilltop after one season at Temple. In high school, she scored 92 career goals, including 34 in her final season. The three-time First Team All-National Division performer also ran track as an honor roll student-athlete.
Hailey Smith (MVLA ECNL, Mustangs ECNL, Pleasanton Rage ECNL / Castro Valley H.S. / Castro Valley, Calif.) – Forward
Smith comes to Howard after being the leading scorer for four consecutive years. The two-sport student-athlete was named to the ECNL All-Conference Team and WACC All-League First Team while making the Academic Honor Roll four times.
Makende Stewart (Northwest Elite ECNL, Internationals ECNL / Jesuit H.S. / Oregon / Portland, Ore.) – Forward
Stewart comes from Portland, Ore., after two seasons with the Oregon Ducks. In high school, she led Jesuit H.S., to the Oregon 6A State Championship while being a member of the National Honor Society. The Oregon native plays for the Ivory Coast U20 National Team.
Zoey Ziade (Palm Beach Gardens Predators GA / Somerset Academy / Nova Southeastern / Pembroke Pines, Fla.) – Midfielder
Ziadie arrives to Howard after one season at Nova Southeastern. In high school, she was named to the Miami Herald First Team three times while leading the team to three district final appearances. The South Florida native also plays for the Jamaican U20 National Team.
