WASHINGTON (May 28, 2025) – Howard University Department of Athletics continued its senior spotlight series, featuring rising senior marketing major
Kasey Napper catching up with MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Champion
Dami Awojobi (Hempstead, N.Y.) from the women's volleyball team.
Q: What made you choose Howard University and how has your experience lived up to your expectations?
A: I chose Howard for three reasons: the program was interested in me; the program was successful and felt like home.
Q: What advice would you give to a freshman joining the team?
A: My advice is to keep an open mind, have the mindset that early is on time, celebrate every moment as loud as you can, cherish the sisterhood, know that during mentally trying times you will build a great sense of perseverance and discipline and work hard and contribute in any way you can.
Q: Can you share a moment that made you feel most proud to represent Howard Volleyball?
A: A moment that made me proud to represent Howard volleyball was our trip to Botswana and then getting to write an article about it. There was such an important exchange of impact between our team, the students and faculty throughout the schools we went to in the country. When I got to write an article for volleyball magazine about our experience, it was with excitement and joy that I got to represent us on a larger scale.
Q: What legacy do you hope to leave behind for the program?
A: The legacy I hope to leave behind is a strong mentality of discipline, accountability and kindness. It is something that is needed within the sport and in life.
Q: What is next for you after graduation?
A: After graduation, I will be playing volleyball overseas. I am excited to travel and see how far I can go with volleyball.
