WASHINGTON (May 10, 2025) – Howard University men's golf team travels to Amherst, Va., to participate in the NCAA Regionals (May 11-14). The 54-hole tournament will occur at Poplar Grove Golf Course, hosted by Liberty University.
Due to inclement weather in the area, the opening round starts Sunday (May 11) at 1:45 p.m., immediately after the practice round. The other two rounds of play will be determined at a later date.

HISTORY
In 1989, the NCAA Men's Golf Regionals began as a qualifying round for the NCAA Championship. Over the years, the format has evolved, but the regionals remain a crucial step in the postseason.
It typically features 81 teams and 45 individual competitors across six regional sites. The top teams and individuals from each regional advance to the NCAA Championship, making this stage a pivotal moment in collegiate golf each spring.
TOURNAMENT PREVIEW
The Poplar Grove Golf Course is a public golf course located in Amherst, Va. Designed by Sam Snead and Ed Carton in 2004, the course features spectacular views. This 18-hole course measures 7,059 yards, has a par of 72 and a slope rating of 141. It is rated 75.0 and has hosted multiple Division I events.
This year's tournament participants include Howard, Arkansas, Arizona, Florida Gulf Coast, LSU, Oklahoma, Pepperdine, Princeton, Stanford, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Wake Forest.
LAST TIMEOUT
On April 24-26, the Bison took home their second straight NEC (Northeast Conference) Championship, erasing a seven-stroke deficit in the final round.

Bear Huff (Riverside, Calif.) led the Bison, shooting 6-over-par (219) while finishing 10
th individually.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE
If HU finishes in the top five, they will advance to the NCAA Championship (May 23-28), held at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, Calif.
