WASHINGTON (April 26, 2025) – Howard University women's lacrosse team wrapped up its 2025 campaign with a 13-4 setback against LIU at Greene Stadium.
HU kept the match close, trailing only three scores at halftime, 5-2. Attackers
Kyla Newkirk (Durham, N.C.) and
Sawyer Walker (Magnolia, Del.) each registered an unassisted goal in the first 30 minutes of action.
After intermission, LIU extended its margin to six with one period remaining, 9-3.
LIU kept its momentum going in the fourth quarter, tallying four goals before senior attacker
Marley Rhymes (Coatesville, Pa.) recorded the final score with 14 ticks remaining, 13-4.
Walker finished with 10 ground balls, eight draw controls and a pair of goals. Rookie
Leah Croom (Miami) added four ground balls and two draw controls in a losing cause.
Defensively, DMV native senior defender
Colby Cooper (Upper Marlboro, Md.) caused two turnovers while freshman goalie
Taylor Williams (West Chester, Pa.) notched eight saves.
Julia Trainor filled the stat sheet for LIU, racking up 10 ground balls, five draw controls and five points (three goals & two assists) in the victory.

Karen Healy-Silcott and the staff recognized five seniors for their hard work and dedication to the program: Cooper; Rhymes;
Maya Rhymes (Coatesville, Pa.);
Ji'reh Williams (Gainesville, Fla.) and
Kimora Williams (Marlton, N.J.).
Coach Healy-Silcott and the Bison continue its pursuit for a Northeast Conference title in spring 2026.
