WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (April 24, 2025) – Howard University men's golf team holds second after 18 holes of play at the NEC (Northeast Conference) Championships, held at the Kingsmill Resort (par-71, 6,831 yards) in Williamsburg, Va.
Collectively, HU shot 1-over par (286) with three Bison sitting in the top 10.
Sophomore
Mathis Perroni (Metz, France) led the way, shooting 2-under par (69) with six birdies on the day.
Fifth-year Bison
Marcus Smith Jr. (Rockford, Ill.) and rookie
Cassius Blake (Birmingham, England) are tied for ninth overall after firing even (71). The duo combined for seven birdies on Day One.
Sophomore
Bear Huff (Riverside, Calif.) shot 74 (+3) in round one, tying for 17
th on the individual leaderboard.
LIU (283, -1) sits atop the team standings with a two-stroke advantage over HU, led by Andre Ulvenes Kleppe with a 3-under par (68) effort. Perroni, FDU's Pyae Phyo Thu and Chicago State Julian Colavecchia are one stroke behind.
The NEC Championships continue with round two Friday (April 25), beginning at 8:30 a.m., in Williamsburg, Va.
