SALISBURY, Md. (March 30, 2025) – Howard University softball team rolled past the Maryland Eastern Shore Hawks (UMES), 9-1 (f/6), in Salisbury, Md.
 
With the victory, HU (14-17, 8-1 MEAC) competed the season sweep against UMES.
 
HU racked up nine runs on 18 hits with nine Bison recording a hit in the win. Senior 
Kenna Higa (Honolulu) led the charge, going 4-of-5 with a pair of RBIs.
 
Howard built its lead throughout the contest, registering a run each inning through three frames, 3-0.
 
Top four, HU extended its margin with two runs, 5-0.
 
After Higa's RBI single in the fifth, 6-0, Howard kept the pressure on with three more runs, 9-0.
 
UMES got on the board late with an RBI-walk, 9-1.
 
Graduate transfer 
Ameenah Ballenger (Lansdown, Pa.) came off the bench against her former squad, throwing 5.0 innings with 11 strikeouts in the victory.
 
On April 5-6, Howard faces Delaware State (DSU) in a conference three-games series in D.C. Saturday (April 5), HU takes on DSU in a doubleheader at 2 p.m., followed by a seven-inning contest Sunday (April 6) at 2 p.m.
