MELBOURNE, Fla. (March 2, 2025) – Howard University women's tennis team cruised to victory after blanking Eastern Florida State College (EFSC), 7-0, in Melbourne, Fla.
With the win, HU extended its win streak to four while going over .500 for the first time this season (4-3).
In doubles play, Howard won all three matchups.
Senior
Nadia Pegram (Naples, Fla.) and second-year Bison
Imani Jean (Brooklyn, N.Y.) served HU as the squad's top doubles team, taking down EFSC's Laura Yans and Elena Prado, 7-5.
HU dominated singles competition, winning all six contests.
After dropping game one, Jean rebounded and went on to defeat the Titans' Maria Gento in three sets (4-6, 7-6 [10-4], 1-0 [10-0]).
Pegram, seniors
Sifa Butcher (Pembroke Pines, Fla.) and
Jordan Grayson (Gaithersburg, Md.), junior
Selah Stibbins (Minneapolis) and sophomore
Ava Chambers (Wellington, Fla.) each won their respective singles matches in straight sets.
Monday (March 3), HU goes to DeLand, Fla., to face Stetson. Match time is slated for 10 a.m.
