WASHINGTON (March 14, 2025) – Howard University men's tennis team cruised past Hartford C.C., 6-1, at the Banneker Recreation Center in D.C.
With the win, HU (3-6) snapped its three-match slide.
Howard swept all three doubles contests while taking a 1-0 match lead into singles competition.
Senior
Marcel Dawson (Columbus, Ga.) and sophomore
Michael Major, Jr. (Nassau, Bahamas) served as HU's top singles team, edging out Hartford's Tristan Duval and Unai Perez, 7-6.
Four-year Bison
Daniel Dunac (Washington) and newcomer
Kaosie Nwokedi (Charlotte, N.C.) took down the Owls' Tom Zimpel and Adrian Weisser, 6-3.
Senior
Hassimiyou Dieng (Dakar, Senegal) and second-year Bison
Kendrick Lash (Winston-Salem, N.C.) also won 6-3 in the No. 3 doubles spot.
Major represented Bison Nation as the top singles player where he defeated Duval in three sets (3-6, 6-3, 1-0 [8-6]).
Dunac, Lash, Nwokedi and sophomore
Mitchell Yon (Queens, N.Y.) each won their respective singles contests in straight sets.
Sunday (March 16), Howard goes to Lewisburg, Pa., to face Bucknell. Match time is slated for 1 p.m.
