NORFOLK, Va. (March 13, 2025) – Howard University men's basketball team erased a late second-half deficit, but unable to complete the comeback, falling to rival Morgan State (MSU) in the MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Quarterfinal Round.

Blake Harper (Washington) led the way with 28 points on 8-of-17 shooting.
HU held an eight-point advantage in the game, 18-10, but the Bears fought back and took their first lead with more than 10 minutes before intermission, 23-21.
Both squads went back-and-forth throughout the opening period, but Howard (12-20) regained the lead before halftime, 44-41.
MSU came out the locker room on firing, reclaiming the upper hand while extending its lead to double digits with eight minutes remaining, 75-64.
With less than three minutes left, Kameron Hobbs made a layup and gave the Bears a 15-point advantage, 86-71, but the Bison refused to go away.
HU picked up the intensity, utilizing a full-court press while forcing the Bears into bad decisions.
In the waning moments, graduate forward
Cameron Shockley-Okeke (Norwalk, Conn.) drilled a trey ball to erase the deficit, 90-89, but Hobbs scored on a layup to seal the deal for MSU, 91-90.
Shockley-Okeke produced 17 points and six rebounds while graduate guard
Anwar Gill (Washington) filled the stat sheet with 15 points, four assists and three blocks in the loss.
Hobbs led all scorers with 33 points on 13-of-24 shooting. Will Thomas and Daniel Akitoby tallied 14 points apiece in the victory.
MSU (14-17) moved on to the MEAC Semifinal Round to face top-seeded Norfolk State Thursday (March 14) at 6 p.m., inside the Norfolk Scope Arena.
