Blake Harper (Washington) scored 29 of his career-high 35 points in the second half and overtime, but a rare four-point play by the Pirates gave Hampton a thrilling, 80-79, win over the Bison at the Sports & Entertainment Arena in Southeast D.C.
SC STATE
South Carolina State (9-12, 3-3 MEAC) is coming off a 67-65 overtime road loss at Norfolk State Saturday (Feb. 1). Taylor Mitchell led the Bulldogs with 15 points, Drayton Jones (14 points) and Everett Davion (13 points) off the bench.

SC State is coached by Erik Martin (Cincinnati, '93), who is in his third year. Howard is led by
Kenneth Blakeney (Duke, '95), who is in his sixth season and has led the Bison to two straight MEAC Tournament titles and NCAA appearances.
