HONOLULU (February 27, 2025) – Washington downed the Howard University softball team, 8-0 (f/5), with extra base hits, including a pair of homers.
After a scoreless first inning, Washington (11-7) got on the board with a two-run homer from Ava Carroll, 2-0.
Next frame, the Huskies extend their advantage with a five-run inning, capped off by a three-run home run from Alexis DeBoer, 7-0.
Top four, Giselle Alvarez delivered an RBI-single to close the scoring, 8-0.
Senior
Lealani Ricks (Madera, Calif.) and sophomore
Merci Hart (Los Angeles) recorded the only two hits for HU.
Senior pitcher
Jordin King (Pomona, Calif.) came off the bench, tossing two innings with two Ks while allowing only one unearned run.
For Washington, they manufactured eight runs on seven hits. In the circle, Morgan Reimer threw a five-inning complete-game shutout with seven strikeouts in the win.
Friday (Feb. 28), Howard is set to play two games against Jackson State (4 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. HT) and Washington (6:30 p.m. ET / 1:30 p.m. HT).
