WASHINGTON (October 16, 2025) – The Howard University women's volleyball team will host a conference matchup against Norfolk State University (NSU) Friday (Oct. 17) at 6 p.m., inside The Burr for the Breast Cancer Awareness game.

HOWARD
 
HU (10-7, 4-2 MEAC) is looking to maintain momentum after winning back-to-back road matches at North Carolina Central (Oct. 10) and South Carolina State (Oct. 12).
 
Graduate Aziah Buckner (Memphis, Tenn.) earned MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Defensive Player of the Week after totaling 20 digs and seven blocks. In the win at North Carolina Central (NCCU), she recorded a career-high five blocks.
 
Senior Leah Reeves (Allen, Texas) was named MEAC Setter of the Week for the fifth time this season, finishing the weekend with 84 assists, 19 digs, four kills, three aces and a block. Reeves also posted a season-high 49 assists in the victory over NCCU.
 
NORFOLK STATE
 
NSU (1-18, 0-6 MEAC) is looking to grab its first league win of the season after losing at North Carolina Central (Oct. 12).
 
Junior outside hitter Gabrielle Gilbert led the Spartans with eight kills and eight digs while moving into third place on Norfolk State's all-time career kills list (944).
 
LAST TIMEOUT
 
Friday (Oct. 10), the Bison won a five-set showdown (3-2) at North Carolina Central. Two days later (Oct. 12), they carried that momentum into a dominant 3-0 sweep at South Carolina State.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
Howard is set for a pair of conference road matchups in Baltimore, taking on Coppin State Thursday (Oct. 23) at 6 p.m., and Morgan State Sunday (Oct. 26) at 1 p.m.
