NORFOLK, Va. (October 14, 2025) – The Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) uncovered its women's volleyball weekly awards where Howard University saw a pair of Bison recognized for their outstanding efforts on the road at North Carolina Central (NCCU) and South Carolina State. The announcement came Monday afternoon.
Graduate
Aziah Buckner (Memphis, Tenn.) won MEAC Defensive Player of the Week while senior
Leah Reeves (Allen, Texas) claimed her fifth Setter of the Week award this season.
Over the weekend, Buckner racked up 20 digs and seven total blocks. In the victory at NCCU (Oct. 11), she notched a career-high five blocks while recording her third double-double (13 digs & 11 kills) of the season.
For Reeves, the Texas native tallied 84 assists, 19 digs, four kills, three service aces and a block. In the win at North Carolina Central, she posted a season-high 49 assists.
Senior
Rya McKinnon (Hoover, Ala.) and rookie
Alexys James (Houston) received honorable mention.
Coppin State's Takenya Stafford was named MEAC Player of the Week while fellow Eagle Cherrisse Atilano earned Rookie of the Week.
The Bison are back in action Friday (Oct. 17) when they host Norfolk State at 6 p.m., in their Breast Cancer Awareness Game.
