WASHINGTON (September 18, 2024) – Howard University women's soccer team heads to North Easton, Mass. to meet the Stonehill Skyhawks in Northeast Conference (NEC) play. The battle begins 3 p.m., at Skyhawk Field.

HOWARD
Howard (1-3-4) previous game ended in a draw (2-2) and after their seven-day rest, the Bison will be coming into this match looking to grab their first conference win.
Performances from the Bison's last match included rookie
Gabrielle Garcia-Terrell (Centreville, Va.) getting her first collegiate goal and second-year midfielder
Samantha James (Herdon, Va.) scoring her first goal of the season.
Other notable mentions include senior
Zoe Moore (Lutz, Fla.) and DMV native sophomore
Mimi Richards (Silver Spring, Md.) each providing an assist. Sophomore goalie
Trinity Knox (Atlanta) finished the night with three saves.
The Bison have been picked to finish third in the preseason, led by longtime head coach
Brent Leiba, who is entering his 15th year.
SKYHAWKS
In their last match against the Vermont Catamounts, the Skyhawks came up short at home in their nonconference season finale, 3-1.
Stonehill (1-7) registered season-highs in shot attempts (15), shots on goal (6) and corner kicks (7). Junior Hannah Anselmo netted her first goal of the season.
Anselmo now leads the team with three points (goal & assist). First-year goalkeeper Allie Sougaris made her collegiate debut in net.
The Skyhawks are projected to finish seventh in the NEC, led by head coach Alex Wilson and assistant Michael Galvin.
LAST TIMEOUT
In a strenuous effort, the Bison were able to close out its nonconference slate with a draw. HU got on the board first within seven minutes of play due to James' goal, 1-0. At the 23-minute mark, Garcia-Terrell placed her first collegiate goal, 2-0.
After the break, LU was aggressive after intermission, outshooting HU, 7-3, in the final 45 minutes of play. With less than 15 minutes remaining, Longwood scored twice and tied the contest to force a draw, 2-2.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
On Sept. 26, Howard will be hosting at Green Stadium for its league home opener against Le Moyne College. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
