WASHINGTON (August 31, 2024) – Howard University women's soccer team begins a two-match home stand Sunday (Sept. 1), hosting Baltimore's very own UMBC. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
HU will be celebrating Bison Pride and Faculty Appreciation Day.

HOWARD
Howard seeks to get back in the win column after an upsetting loss to Richmond (1-1-2).
Sophomore forward
Mimi Richards (Silver Spring, Md.), reigning two-time Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Week, looks to add to her conference-leading goals total (3).
Defensively, freshman goalie
Nya-Grace Young (Ontario, Canada) sits third in the conference with a .778 save percentage.
Monday (Aug. 26), Richards earned NEC Player of the Week for the second consecutive week while Young claimed the league's Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week.
The Bison have been picked to finish third in the preseason, led by longtime head coach
Brent Leiba, who is entering his 15
th year.
UMBC
UMBC (1-2) will be trying to get their legs back under them after their last match versus Drexel was canceled due to weather.
After dropping their first two matchups of the season, the Retrievers earned their first win of the season at Iona, 1-0 (Aug. 25). Izzy Binko with the only goal for the Retrievers this season.
UMBC is projected to finish seventh in the tough American East conference, led by Rick Stainton, who is entering his second season at the helm.
LAST TIMEOUT
HU suffered its first loss of the season with Sunday afternoon's (Aug. 25) slip up against the Richmond Spiders, 1-0.
After 15 shot attempts, the Bison were unable to capitalize. The rookie forward
Gabrielle Garcia-Terrell (Centreville, Va.) partook in six of those attempts, followed by Richards and All-NEC selection
Melea Earley (La Mirada, Calif.) with two shot attempts each.

On Sept. 5, Howard finishes off its brief two-match home stand versus George Washington on National Cheese Pizza Day and Bison's Canned Food Drive. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., at Greene Stadium.
