Howard seeks to get back in the win column after back-to-back stalemates (1-0-2).
Sophomore forward
Mimi Richards (Silver Spring, Md.) spearhead the charge early on, racking up a league-leading three goals (six points). Monday (Aug. 19), the Northeast Conference (NEC) unveiled its weekly accolades where Richards took home the league's Player of the Week award.
The Bison have been picked to finish third in the preseason, led by longtime head coach
Brent Leiba, who is entering his 15
th year.
RICHMOND
Like HU, the Spiders are looking to stay unbeaten (1-0-1). After tying in the season opener at Coastal Carolina, 1-1, Richmond took down Longwood in its home opener, 2-0. Brigitte Bussiere and Anna Garcia each registered a goal in the victory.
Richmond is projected to finish 11
th in the tough A-10 conference, led by Adam Denton, who is entering his second season at the helm.
LAST TIMEOUT
HU came to its second draw of the season with Thursday night's (Aug. 22)1-1 stalemate with A-10 opponent George Mason.
Richard scored her third goal of the year while rookie goalie
Nya-Grace Young (Ontario, Canada) made her collegiate debut, recording seven saves in the tie.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
On Sept. 1, Howard begins its brief two-match home stand versus UMBC on Brison Pride and Faculty Appreciation Day. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m., at Greene Stadium.
