SEASON OUTLOOK

For the past two years, the team has been plagued by untimely injuries and a lack depth, affecting the outcome of several games when the team relinquished leads that allowed game-winning plays.

Bison head coach Phillip Gyau is enthusiastic about the depth and talent of this year's squad, featuring a combination of youth and experience.

"The most important thing is that we are healthy and have the depth we have missed in the past," Gyau expressed. "In the past, once we got past the front line, fatigue and other factors affected the outcome and we could not hold onto leads or we would give up goals late. We have addressed that and with this group, we expect big things."

MATCHUP PREVIEW

HOWARD

HU looks to bounce back after a tough 2023 season.

Two-time All-NEC selection senior forward Bryson Baker (Ellicott City, Md.) led the team in goals and points scored the past two seasons (2022 & 2023) and was second during his freshman campaign (2021). During his productive career, he has scored 15 goals and 32 points.

Other key players like graduate forward Mason Christian (Fulton, Md.), junior forward Christian Rufael (Washington), senior forward Marcus Lewis (Toronto, Canada) and junior midfielder Roman Stallings (Tyrone, Ga.) will be counted on to provide added support.

Gyau enters his 10th season as head coach.

DELAWARE

A year ago, Delaware (UD) finished with a 9-4-6 overall record (3-2-3 CAA) and made the conference semifinal round for the first time since 2016. Along the way, UD knocked nationally-ranked Hofstra and defending B1G Champion Rutgers.

Last week (Aug. 14), the program was voted third in the CAA (Coastal Athletic Association) Preseason Poll with four Blue Hens earning preseason recognition. Sam Donnellan and Rich Monath were named to the 2024 Preseason Team while Carlos Fernandez and Jan Schroeder were featured on the honorable mention list.

Tommy McMenemy enters his third season at the helm for Delaware.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE

Howard continues its road swing in Baltimore, facing UMBC in nonconference action. Match time is set for 7:30 p.m.
