Towns Set to Represent Howard University in the Third Annual HBCU All-Star Game

All-MEAC selection ready to display talents in front of national audience

PHOENIX (April 6, 2024) – Graduate Seth Towns (Columbus, Ohio) is set to represent Howard University in the third annual HBCU All-Star Game. The event will be held on the beautiful and breathtaking campus of Grand Canyon University (GCU) in Phoenix inside the state of art 6,500 seat GCU Arena Sunday (April 7) and broadcast live on CBS Television Network.

Towns becomes the fourth Bison to compete in the annual event, joining former All-MEAC selections Kyle Foster and Randall Brumant and 2022-23 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Coach of the Year Kenneth Blakeney. Last season, Blakeney led Team Dick Barnett over Team Willis Reed, 113-99.

This year, Towns will be part of Team Rick Mahorn, comprising of players from the MEAC, Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) and independent HBCUs Hampton University and Tennessee State University. Team Mahorn squares off against Team Ben Wallace, consisting of players from the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) and Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).

Towns received three MEAC weekly honors during his only season with the Bison while guiding HU to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances. The Ohio native ranked among the conference leaders in several categories, including scoring (9th), rebounding (5th), free throw percentage (5th), three-point field goals made (3rd) and assists (7th).

This historic and very exciting celebration of Black College Basketball at the highest level will showcase the best HBCU players in the country. Through its connections and events, HBCU All-Stars aims to showcase The Best in Black College Basketball and bring much needed exposure, visibility and recognition to outstanding, talented and hard-working HBCU student-athletes and brilliant coaches.

Howard wrapped up the 2023-24 season with its third straight winning season (18-17, 9-5 MEAC) while earning its second straight trip to the Big Dance.
