LORETTO, Pa. (April 24, 2024) – Saint Francis (SFU) used an 11-0 second quarter to down the Howard University women's lacrosse team, falling 20-4, in Loretto, Pa.
Freshman
Chloe Ronsholdt (Stafford, Va.) got HU on the board first, thanks to an unassisted goal, 1-0.
SFU scored twice moments later to take its first lead of the match, 2-1, but an unassisted goal by rookie
Layla Collins (Houston) tied the contests, 2-2.
Saint Francis' Tori Petrie tallied another score and gave the Red Flash a 3-2 edge after one.
From that point, SFU never looked back, outscoring Howard with 11 unanswered goals in the second frame and taking a 14-2 lead into halftime.
Ronsholdt produced her second goal of the day after intermission, but Saint Francis extended its advantage with three more scores, 17-3.
In the fourth quarter, second-year Bison
Tea Vasquez (Oakland, Calif.) recorded her eighth goal of the season while the Red Flash added three more scores to end the contest.
Sophomore
Kendall Barker (Columbus, Ohio) registered four draw controls while senior goalie
Zahria Liggans (Detroit) came off the bench, collecting seven saves in the loss.
Bella Fisher led the way for Saint Francis, racking up 11 draw controls and eight points (five goals & three assists) in the victory.
