BALTIMORE (April 20, 2024) – Howard University women's track & field held on to win the 2024 Morgan Legacy, hosted by Morgan State, in Baltimore.
Overall, the Bison collected 133 points, edging out rival Hampton (130).
On the day, HU secured three first-place finishes.
Junior
Tiffani-Rae Pittman (Bowie, Md.) took home gold in the 100-meter dash, clocking in at 11.62.
Newcomer
Aiyana Gray-Williams (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and sophomore
Zoe Turner (Mableton, Ga.) finished first (23.81) and second (23.95), respectively, in the 200-meter dash.
Second-year Bison
Lauren Thompson (Frisco, Texas) and
Jazmyn Wajd (Tampa, Fla.) claimed the top two spots in the 100-meter hurdles, placing first (13.71) and second (13.88), respectively.
In the field, sophomore
Ija Mumford (Winston-Salem, N.C.) competed in the long jump and triple jump, landing fourth (5.82 meters) and sixth (11.73 meters), respectively.
Other notable field performance included rookie
Leyanis Castillo (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) leaping 1.57 meters (5'1.75") in the high jump, earning fourth place.
Next weekend, the Bison will head to Philadelphia for the prestigious Penn Relays (April 25-27).
