TOWSON, Md. - Howard softball continues their historic charge with a 5-4 win over Towson Thursday afternoon.
The feat mark the Bison's 11th win - setting a new program win streak. The streak breaks their last historic run stemming from their 2022 championship run.
HU was first on the board when reigning Player of the Week
Maryn Jordan (San Diego, Calif.) singled to shortstop giving newcomer
Bianca Worthy (Goodyear, Ariz.) time to make it back in the dugout, 1-0.
Kenna Higa (Honolulu, Hawai'i) would cross the plate just two plays later for a 2-0 lead.
The Bison made quick work of the Tigers facing only four batters - two grounding out to short.
The Tigers joined the board in the bottom of the second with a homerun from sophomore Grace Franczyk (Blue Bell, Pa). The Owls picked up two more runs in the third to take a 3-2 lead over the Bison.
Worthy went 4-for-4 at the plate notching one RBI in the fourth to tie the score 3-3.
After a scoreless fourth inning for both teams, the Bison notched the final nails in the coffin when
Iyanna Fortenberry (Richmond, Va.) cross home base off
Merci Hart's (Los Angeles, Calif.) hit to left field. Michaela DiGaudio (Corona, Calif.) seized her opportunity to make it home on a ground out to third for a 5-3 advantage.
A walk bumped the Owls to a 5-4 deficit, but that is as far as they would get as the Bison held off any advance.
The Bison continue their run in Towson DeMarini Invitational Saturday March 2nd when they face Providence College at 10 AM followed by UMass Lowell at 12:30 PM at Tiger Softball Stadium in Maryland.
