GENEVA, Ohio (February 21, 2024) – Howard University women's swimming & diving squad took the lead after Day Two of the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships. This marks the first time that both sides of the program have held first place positions in the NEC Championships simultaneously.
HU holds a 15.5-point advantage over reigning NEC Champions Central Connecticut State (413.5) after two days of competition, accumulating 429 points.
Second-year Bison
Zuilda Nwaeze (Columbia, Md.) headlined the night with a record-setting performance. The Maryland product won the 50 Free with a new meet record of 22.74, shattering the previous eight-year mark (23.00).
Junior
Kelsey Roberson (West Orange, N.J.) also competed in the event, earning silver with a 23.50 time.

Zaylie-Elizabeth Thompson (Nassau, Bahamas) and senior
Michaela Spears (Chicago) represented Bison Nation in the 200 IM, placing second (2:04.60) and third (2:04.85), respectively.

Samyra Benoit (Santa Clarita, Calif.) and rookie
Chanice Posada (Houston) capped off the evening with a second-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay, clocking in at 1:44.24.
HU continues competition Thursday (Feb. 22) with prelims at 10 a.m., followed by the final round at 6 p.m.
