Dockery, Harris Lead Men's Basketball to Victory Over NCCU with Hot Shooting

HU downs Eagles in high-scoring affair

WASHINGTON (February 17, 2024) – Junior guard Marcus Dockery (Washington) scored a season-high 26 points and fellow classmate guard Bryce Harris (Brentwood, N.Y.) added 23 points to lead four players in double figures as the Howard University men's basketball team cruised to a 90-82 win over North Carolina Central (NCCU) in a high-scoring Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) game at Burr Gymnasium.

Dockery connected 8-of-13 from the field, including 5-of-7 from his specialty area, while Harris hit of 7-of-9 from the field, including 3-of-4 from three-point range.

For the game, the Bison were a sizzling 28-of-49 (58-percent) and 12-of-22 from beyond the arc.

Graduate forward Seth Towns (Columbus, Ohio) added 12 points on 5-of-8 while grabbing seven rebounds.

The Bison have been plagued of late with an assortment of injuries that has affected their ability to hold on down the stretch in games. But that may be remedied as Howard welcomes back sophomore forward Shy Odom (Roxbury, Mass.), who has missed the last 11 games with a back injury. The MEAC Preseason Player of the Year had a productive 17 minutes with 10 points and three assists before fouling out.

It was an all-around effort for the Bison as they got 42 points in the paint. Sophomore forward Dom Campbell (Scarborough, Maine) tallied nine points and three assists.

NCCU (13-10, 5-3 MEAC), which defeated the Bison, 73-54, in Durham back on Jan. 6, was led by Fred Cleveland, Jr. (20 points), Ja'Darius Harris (18 points) and Po'Boigh King (14 points).

NEXT UP: The Bison will look to extend their streak to three when they host South Carolina State Monday (Feb. 19) at 7:30 p.m., in The Burr.
