Women’s Hoops Heads to Seton Hall

Bison begin two-game road swing in New Jersey

WASHINGTON (December 5, 2024) – Howard University women's basketball team begins a two-game road swing in New Jersey, taking on Seton Hall Friday (Dec. 6). Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.

Sunday (Dec. 1), graduate guard Destiny Howell (Queens, N.Y.) scored 21 points but it was not enough as Georgetown University got past the Bison, 69-63, in a nonconference tilt at Burr Gymnasium.
 
SETON HALL
 
Seton Hall (5-2) snapped a two-game losing streak with a 59-53 win over San Francisco. The Pirates got a game-high 26 from Savanna Catalon and 14 points from Shailyn Pinkney to secure the home victory.
 
SERIES RECORD
 
This is only the third meeting between the two schools since 2006 with both programs splitting the previous two matchups.
 
The Bison won, 63-44, on December 28, 2011, and the Pirates prevailed, 66-47, on November 17, 2006.
 
THE COACHES
 
Howard is coached by Ty Grace (New Haven,'99), who is in her 10th season. Seton Hall is coached by Anthony Bozzella (Seton Hall, '89), who is in his 12th season at his alma mater.

Howell has reached double figures in all eight games this season while moving up on the school all-time scoring list to No. 18 with 1,089 points and counting…The Bison have already surpassed last season's start when they did not win their fifth game until January 20, 2024, the team was 5-12 at that time...Monday (Dec. 2), Howell was named the MEAC Co-Player of the Week and Saniyah King (Washington) was named the MEAC Rookie of the Week for the third time in this young season....in the last six games, the Bison defense has limited its opponents to an average of under 60 points...Zennia Thomas' (Cleveland) 11 rebounds versus Georgetown was a career high for the Kentucky transfer.
