FUQUAY-VARINA, N.C. (December 5, 2024) – BOXTOROW unveiled its 2024 HBCU College Football All-America Team where Howard University graduate defensive back
Kenny Gallop Jr. (Portsmouth, Va.) made the squad. The announcement came Thursday afternoon.
Gallop became the first defensive player to be named a three-time HBCU All-American and one of only two student-athletes in BOXTOROW history (Virginia Union running back Jada Byers, 2022-24).
In his final season, the All-MEAC First Team selection produced 77 total tackles (52 solos), seven tackles for loss, four pass breakups, three sacks, three QB hurries, a forced fumble and fumble recovery.
In 44 games, he finished his illustrious career with 325 total tackles (210 solos), 20 tackles for loss, 15 pass breakups, 5.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and two INTs.
In November, the 2023 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Defensive Player of the Year was selected to the 2025 HBCU Legacy Bowl in New Orleans.
Senior offensive lineman
Darius Fox (Washington), an All-MEAC First Team selection, received honorable mention.
In total, 17 programs are represented of the 32 selections.
BOXTOROW has named the All-America Team since 2007, based on voting by media who cover HBCU Football.
