BALTIMORE (November 8, 2024) - Howard University women's volleyball team continued its sweep through the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC), downing Morgan State (25-16, 25-23, 30-28) for its 12
th consecutive conference win Friday night inside the Hill Field House.

The feat boosted the Bison to a 19-5 (12-0 MEAC) record while the Lady Bears fell to 6-20 (2-10 MEAC).

Morgan State (MSU) popped out to a 2-0 lead, but a five-point run, led by
Halie McGinest (Calabasas, Calif.) quickly gave Howard an 8-5 advantage. Inching back, the Lady Bears tied the scoreboard on multiple occasions before
Leah Reeves (Allen, Texas) set up another uncontested five-point charge for the Bison, 16-11.

MSU's Addison Metts kept the Bison at bay as Howard approached set point. The attacks fell short as three straight points from seniors
Dami Awojobi (Hempstead, N.Y.),
Amanda Ifeanyichukwu (The Woodlands, Texas) and
Bria Woodard (Missouri City, Texas) brought the Bison to set point. Reeves, five-time MEAC Setter of the Week, closed out the frame with a block to take the set, 25-16.

Morgan State opened the scoring once again but in like fashion, the Bison soon took over.
Aziah Buckner (Memphis, Tenn.) highlighted a short run with a service ace to help bring the Bison to an 11-8 lead. Aiming to turn the tide, MSU landed four attacks to gain the upper hand, 13-11. A five-count charge helped Howard overcome the small 15-14 deficit, jumping ahead, 19-15. Awojobi and MSU's Metts battled it out as the Lady Bears gained a slight 20-19 edge over the Bison. McGinest's rotation proved fruitful, pushing HU to its second set point of the night. Connecting with a set from Reeves, Ifeanyichukwu claimed the second set for Howard, 25-23.

The Bison kept the momentum going - doubling MSU's score, 6-3. Service aces from McGinest paired with powerful kills from Buckner hoisted the Bison to an 11-4 lead. Kills from Ainara Fenandez kept the Bears within three 21-19 before taking the lead by setting off on a six-point charge, 25-24. A block and a kill from
Cimone Woodard (Missouri City, Texas) flipped the scoreboard in Howard's favor, 28-27. Awojobi worked in one final kill before an error across the net sealed the deal, 30-28.

The Bison are back in action Sunday (Nov. 10) at 1 p.m., when they finish their business in Baltimore with a matchup against Coppin State.
