COLUMBIA, Mo. (November 8, 2024) – Guard
Marcus Dockery (Washington) scored a team-high 14 points and fellow backcourt mate
Bryce Harris (Brentwood, N.Y.) added 11 points but no other players reached double figures as the Howard University men's basketball fell, 77-62, to Missouri in a nonconference game at Mizzou Arena.
The Bison (0-2) fell behind early and played catchup through most of the first half and trailed, 40-28, at intermission. With Dockery and Harris finding some range, the Bison were able to get within striking distance. But the Tigers (1-1) were able to thwart any Howard comeback as Tamar Bates, Mark Mitchell and Anthony Robinson II took turns supplying just enough offense to pull away to their first win.
Three newcomers added to the Howard team totals.
Anwar Gill (Washington), a graduate transfer from LaSalle, had another good all-around game with eight points, five rebounds and a team-leading five assists.
Blake Harper, a freshman out of D.C., failed to reach double figures in scoring, but he was able to contribute to his point total of seven points with a team-high eight rebounds and four assists.
Jaren Johnson (Lynwood, Calif.), made his first start in a Bison uniform, totaling nine points in a losing effort.
