Men’s Hoops Welcomes Mount St. Mary's to The Burr Saturday

Bison looking to get back in the win column against The Mount

WASHINGTON (November 29, 2024) – Howard University men's basketball team returns home Saturday (Nov. 30), welcoming Mount St. Mary's (MSM) to The Burr. Tipoff is slated for 2 p.m., live on ESPN+.

Mount St. Mary's (4-2) is coming off a 76-66 home win over Delaware State (DSU) Saturday (Nov. 23). The Mount was led by Dola Adebayo, who led four players in double figures with 17 points. Jedy Cordilla, Carmelo Pacheco and Terrell Ard Jr., each scored 14 points in the victory. MSM's held DSU to 15-percent shooting the three-point line.
 
HOWARD
 
Monday (Nov. 25), freshman guard Blake Harper (Washington) scored a career-high 20 points to lead four Bison in double figures, but a 12-0 run to end the game proved to be the difference as HU fell, 95-77, to the University of Maryland at Baltimore County (UMBC) in the UMBC Challenge at the Chesapeake Employers Insurance Arena.
 
SERIES RECORD
 
This is the ninth meeting between the two institutions. Howard has won two-in-a-row, including last year's 87-83 shootout in Emmitsburg, Md. The last three meetings have been decided by a total of seven points.
 
THE COACHES
 
MSM is coached Donny Lind (Loyola (Md.), '10), who is in his first season at the helm. Howard is led by Kenneth Blakeney (Duke, '95), who is in his sixth season and has led the Bison to two straight MEAC (Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) Tournament titles and NCAA appearances.

BISON NOTES
 
The Mount has four players scoring in double figures and three players are averaging 7.5 rebounds...Harper is one of the top freshmen in the country, the 6-foot-5 first-year Bison from D.C., was named MEAC Rookie of the Week for the third time of this young season Tuesday (Nov. 26)...the 95 points allowed in the loss at UMBC (Nov. 25) was the most the Bison have surrendered this season.
