Men’s Hoops Looks to Stay Hot at FIU

Bison looking to extend win streak against Panthers

WASHINGTON (November 17, 2024) – Howard University men's basketball team continues its road swing in Miami, looking to extend its win streak against Florida International University (FIU). Tipoff is slated for 7p.m.

LAST TIME OUT
 
On Nov. 13, guards Blake Harper (Washington) and Bryce Harris (Brentwood, N.Y.) combined to score all 13 of the Bison's points in overtime, propelling Howard in defeating Tennessee State, 88-85, in the HBCU All-Star Challenge in Atlanta.
 
Harper led the way with 18 points while Harris notched a double-double (17 points & 11 rebounds).
 
SERIES RECORD
 
This is the third meeting between the two institutions with HU winning the first two matchups.
 
They last met on December 13, 2022, with the Bison coming away with a 71-59 win in The Burr.  The other matchup came on November 21, 2003, with Howard prevailing, 67-55.

Howard is coached by Kenneth Blakeney (Duke, '95) who is in his sixth season and has led the Bison to two straight MEAC Tournament titles and NCAA appearances. FIU is led by Jeremy Ballard (Colgate, '03), who is in his seventh season.

Howard travels to Baltimore to compete in the UMBC Multi-Team Event, hosted by the Retrievers.
 
Sunday (Nov. 24), the Bison take on Boston University. The following day (Nov. 25), HU squares off against UMBC. Both contests are scheduled for noon.
