Women Hoops Takes on Mount Saint Mary's Wednesday

Bison look to get back on track at The Mount

WASHINGTON (November 12, 2024) – Howard University women's basketball team begins a brief two-game road trip Wednesday (Nov. 13), taking on Mount St. Mary's (MSM) at Knott Arena. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. on ESPN+.

LAST TIMEOUT
 
Sunday (Nov. 10), the Bison (2-1) got off to a slow start offensively and never were unable to get going as they fell, 72-48, to VCU at Burr Gymnasium. Junior Zennia Thomas (Cleveland) just missed a double-double (nine points & nine rebounds) while sophomore guard Janyah Bohanon (Cleveland) came off the bench to score 10 points.
 
The Mount (0-2) is coming off a 63-59 home loss to FDU Sunday (Nov. 10). MSM staged a furious comeback, outscoring the Knights, 26-13, in the fourth quarter, but fell short.
 
SERIES RECORD
 
This is the 14th meeting between the two teams with HU leading the series, 9-4. Last season, Howard defeated MSM, 58-39, inside The Burr. The Mountaineers' last win came in 1993.
 
THE COACHES
 
Howard is coached by Ty Grace (New Haven,'99), who is in her 10th season. MSM is led by Antoine White (Southern Vermont College, '16), who is in his ninth season.

Howell, the 2022-23 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Player of the Year, reached the 1,000-point plateau in the loss to VCU (Nov. 10).
 
The game offers a double treat: Saniyah King (Washington) was named the MEAC Rookie of the Week while MSM' s Gabrielle Kennerly received Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week honors.
