Men’s Basketball Meets Tennessee State in the HBCU All-Star Challenge

Bison look to keep the momentum going in Atlanta

WASHINGTON (November 12, 2024) – Howard University men's basketball team heads to Atlanta for the HBCU All-Star Challenge, squaring off against the Tennessee State (TSU) Tigers. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.

Monday (Nov. 11), senior guard Marcus Dockery (Washington) scored a game-high 23 points to lead four players in double figures as the Bison (1-2) defeated Dillard (La.), 91-73, inside Burr Gymnasium.
 
TSU (1-2), from the Ohio Valley Conference, enters the game following an 81-66 loss at Wyoming. The Tigers were led in scoring by Brandon Weston (18 points), Aaron Nkrumah (13 points) and Amir Langlass (11 points).
 
SERIES RECORD
 
This is the second meeting between the two institutions. On Dec. 15, 1986, the Tigers prevailed, 88-68, in the Chicago Classic.
 
THE COACHES
 
Howard is coached by Kenneth Blakeney (Duke, '95), who is in his sixth season and has led the Bison to two straight Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Tournament titles and NCAA Tournament appearances.
 
TSU is coached by Brian "Penny" Collins (Belmont, '06), who is in his seventh season.

Dockery has climbed the record ladder for three pointers made in a season and career. He needs 50 points to reach 1,000 points.
