Delaware State (1-7, 0-1 MEAC) is coming off a 69-35 road defeat at South Carolina State (SCSU) Saturday (Oct. 26). It was the Hornets' sixth straight loss. DSU got 150 yards rushing and three TDs from Jaden Sutton, but the Hornets defense surrendered 631 yards of total offense to SCSU.
 
Howard (3-5 overall, 0-1 MEAC) dropped a 21-20 contest at Norfolk State (NSU) Saturday (Oct. 26). The Bison have lost two in a row. The Bison led NSU 10-0 and 20-14, but a 93-yard kick return and a late TD by the Spartans proved to be the difference. Redshirt sophomore Ja'Shawn Scroggins (Las Vegas) led the attack with 11 carries for 109 yards and a TD and 159 yards passing a TD in a losing effort.

THE SERIES
 
This is the 82^nd meeting between the two rivals. Howard has won two in a row, including last year's 17-10 win in Dover, Del. The Bison have won six of the last nine, but the Hornets hold a 40-40-1 advantage in the series between the two teams.

Delaware State is coached by Lee Hull (Holy Cross, 1988) who is in his second year with the program. Howard is coached by Larry Scott (USF, 2000) who is in his fifth season.

SCOUTING THE BISON
 
On offense, the Bison will rely on the running and passing of Scroggins (63 carries for 435 yards & 2 TDs; 65-of-118 for 618 yards, 2 TDs & 5 INTs).
 
The run game is led by the duo of MEAC Offensive Preseason Player of the Year graduate Jarett Hunter (131 carries for 567 yards & 5 TDs; 12 receptions for 71 yards) and his backfield mate junior Eden James (68 carries for 331 yards & 3 TDs; 12 receptions for 106 yards). 
 
The passing game will be bolstered by senior wide receivers Isiah Williams (23 catches for 251 yards & a TD) and Kasey Hawthorne (23 receptions for 280 yards).
 
The offensive line is anchored by senior all conference guard Darius Fox (Washington).
 
Defensively, All-American safety Kenny Gallop Jr. (Portsmouth, Va.) leads the team in tackles (65 total tackles, 6.0 TFLs, 3.0 sacks, 1 FR & 2 pass breakups).
 
Gallop has plenty of help in senior All-MEAC linebacker Terrance Hollon (44 total tackles, 2.5 TFLs, 2.5 sacks, 2 FFs & 2 FRs), senior defensive backs Xavier Robiou (30 total tackles) and Robert Jones III (29 total tackles, team-leading 4 PBs & a FR).
 
Up front, the trio of junior Noah Miles (27 total tackles, 7.5 TFLs, 6.0 sacks & a FF), sophomore Ishaun Abdul-Ali (21 total tackles, 5.5 TFLs, 4.0 sacks & a blocked kick) and senior Jamel Stewart (25 total tackles, 4.5 TFLs & 2.5 sacks).

The Hornet offense is led by redshirt sophomore quarterback Marqui Adams (79 carries for 264 yards & 2 TDs; 92-of-156 for 1,024 yards, 7 TDs & 3 INTs), graduate running back Jaden Sutton (114 carries for 772 yards, 8 TDs & 6.8 yards per carry), junior running back Jayden Jenkins (31 carries for 144 yards & a TD).
 
The receiving targets are redshirt junior Ghee Lolley (21 catches for 280 yards & a TD) and sophomores Kristian Tate (19 receptions for 274 yards & 2 TDs) and Kyree Benton (22 catches for 228 yards & 2 TDs).
 
Defensively, the Hornets are led by junior defensive back Kahleef Jimmison (39 total tackles, 5.0 TFLs & a sack), redshirt junior linebacker Charles Brown, Jr. (35 total tackles & 3.0 TFLs), redshirt senior linebacker Aaron Willis (31 total tackles, 2.0 TFLs & 3 PBs) and sophomore linebacker Brian Bates (22 total tackles & 2.0 TFLs).

Hunter and Hawthorne have been two of the most productive players in recent history...Hunter has amassed over 2,700 yards and 25 TDs in a Bison uniform...Hawthorne has accounted for over 2,000 yards and 22 TDs with his receiving, rushing and passing...James has put up some good numbers in his first two seasons, rushing and receiving for over 1,500 yards while averaging almost 5.0 yards per carry....13 different Howard players have caught at least one pass and 12 have scored at least one TD.
