Women’s Soccer Faces Saint Francis Thursday

Bison looking to extend win streak at Red Flash

WASHINGTON (October 2, 2024) – Howard University women's soccer team will be on the road in Loretto, Pa., to face Saint Francis University (SFU) Thursday (Oct. 3). The game will be held on The Flash's home turf (DeGol Field). Kickoff at 3 p.m.

HOWARD
 
Howard (3-4-4, 2-1 NEC) won its second straight Northeast Conference (NEC) match after defeating the Chicago State University Cougars, 2-0. The Bison will be seeking their third consecutive conference win.
 
Sophomore Mimi Richards (Silver Springs, Md.) earned her fifth goal of the season while junior Mia Young (Sunrise, Fla.) put the nail in the coffin, scoring the second goal of the match while making that her second career score. Both assists are credited to junior Laila Cowsette (Laurel, Md.) and senior Zoe Moore (Lutz, Fla.), respectively.
 
The Bison were picked to finish third in the preseason, led by longtime head coach Brent Leiba, who is in his 15th year.
 
SAINT FRANCIS
 
Saint Francis will enter the match 4-5-2 (2-1 NEC) following a 3-0 win over Delaware State Sunday (Sept. 29).
 
Lauren Pyle leads the way for the Red Flash in total goals (3) and total points (7) this season while Tomke Dziesiaty leads the team in total assists (3).
 
The Red Flash are projected to finish fourth in the NEC, led by head coach Brian Diaz.
 
LAST TIMEOUT
 
The Bison extended their win streak with Sunday afternoon's (Sept. 29) 2-0 victory over Chicago State.
 
Gabriella Garcia-Terrell (Centreville, Va.) led the Bison with six shots – two on goal.
 
Defensively, Trinity Knox (Atlanta) gained two more saves to the season's stats.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
On Oct. 10, Howard will be back home to host Mercyhurst College for Breast Cancer Awareness Day. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m., at Greene Stadium.
