HOWARD
Howard (1-4-2) opened the conference slate with its first win of the season after Sunday afternoon's (Sept. 29) 4-1 win over Central Connecticut State (CCSU). HU will be seeking its first win streak of the year.
Jackson Lewis (Alexandria, Va.) gave the Bison a 1-0 lead with help from
Troy Matingou (Round Rock, Texas) and
Roman Stallings (Tyrone, Ga.).
Mason Christian (Fulton, Md.) netted his fourth goal of the season and freshman midfielder
Zach Simmons (Rockwall, Texas) scored his first collegiate goal.
Gyau enters his 10
th season as head coach.
PITT
The Panthers (8-1) have now won five consecutive matches, marking the program's longest streak since the 2020-21 campaign. The team downed No. 17 Virginia Tech, 2-0, Saturday evening (Sept. 28) at Thompson Field in Blacksburg, Va.
Defensively, the Panthers tallied their third-consecutive clean sheet. Pitt has gone 275 minutes and 34 seconds of action without allowing a goal, dating back to Sept. 13.
Luis Sahmkow has logged a point in each of Pitt's last five matches and tied for the league lead (15).
PITT is projected to finish first in the ACC, led by head coach Jay Vidovich in his ninth season.
LAST TIMEOUT
Sunday (Sept. 29), HU defeated CCSU, 4-1, and earned its first win of the season.
Liam Kieller (Gaithersburg, Md.) notched two saves in the victory.
