NORFOLK, Va. (January 31, 2024) – For the second consecutive week (fourth overall), Howard University men's basketball junior guard
Bryce Harris (Brentwood, N.Y.) took home the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Defensive Player of the Week. The announcement came Wednesday afternoon.
In Baltimore, Harris averaged a double-double (19 points & 11 rebounds) with four steals and three assists.
After a 20-point performance at Morgan State (Jan. 27), the New York native notched his fourth double-double of the season with 18 points and 15 boards (career-high) in the road victory at Coppin State (Jan. 29).
This season, Harris tops the conference in field goal percentage (57-percent).
North Carolina Central guard Ja'Darius Harris was named MEAC Offensive Player of the Week while Norfolk State forward Chris Fields Jr. was selected Rookie of the Week.
Howard travels to Newark, N.J., to take on rival Hampton University in the Invesco QQQ Legacy Classic Saturday (Feb. 3) at 4 p.m. It is the second time the two programs have met this season and it will close out Howard's nonconference schedule for the season.
