WASHINGTON (September 18, 2023) – Howard University women's volleyball team returns to The Burr Tuesday (Sept. 19) when they host crosstown rival American (AU). Match time is slated for 6 p.m.

HU (3-8) looks to snap its six-match slide before starting conference play Friday (Sept. 22).
 
Reigning Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Year Rya McKinnon (Hoover, Ala.) leads the league in kills per set (3.74) and points per set (4.02).
 
AMERICAN
 
American (6-4) enters Tuesday's clash with a 3-0 victory over Stonehill (Sept. 16). This season, the Eagles have won at least one set each contest.
 
AU is led by 2023 Patriot League Preseason Player of the Year Zeynep Uzen. In 10 matches, she has accumulated 162 total kills, 19 total blocks (two solos), nine service aces and eight assists.
 
LAST TIMEOUT
 
On Sept. 16-17, Howard dropped a pair of nonconference matches in Atlanta.
 
Saturday (Sept. 16), the Bison fell in straight sets to No. 10 Georgia Tech. The next day (Sept. 17), HU suffered a four-set loss to Georgia.
 
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
 
HU continues its home stand with a pair of league matches.
 
Friday (Sept. 22), the Bison battle South Carolina State in their conference opener. Match time is scheduled for 6 p.m. Two days later (Sept. 24), Howard wraps up the home stand versus North Carolina Central. First serve at 3 p.m.
