WASHINGTON (August 3, 2023) – Raised in Newark, New Jersey,
J. Keith Hancock entered the Howard University football program in the summer of 1989 as a walk-on before earning a starting position on special teams and free safety.
In the summer of 1993, he earned a Bachelor of Science in radiography from the School of Allied Health and entered the workforce as a radiologic technologist at St. Mary's Hospital and Passaic New Jersey.
In 1997, while taking X-rays, he began a new career as an elementary school teacher. Later on, Hancock participated in an alternate route program to receive his teaching certificate from St. Peter's College in Jersey City, New Jersey.
While teaching elementary education, the opportunity arose to obtain a certificate in middle school mathematics from Montclair State University.
Today, Hancock has three wonderful daughters and resides in his hometown of Newark, New Jersey.
After nearly 30 years of taking x-rays and 25 years of teaching, he looks forward to retiring and enjoying homecomings with the rest of the Bison.
