MATCHUP PREVIEW

SERIES RECORD

This is the eighth meeting between the two schools with the Mountaineers holding a 5-2 lead in the all-time series.

The Bison edged MSM, 63-62, at Burr Gymnasium a year ago (Dec. 21, 2022) while Mount St. Mary's won the previous two, including a 72-70 victory in Emmittsburg (Nov. 30, 2021).

HOWARD

The Bison, who have played the last two games without the services of sophomore center Dom Campbell (Scarborough, Maine) and graduate guard Isiah Warfield (Monaca, Pa.), have gotten scoring from starters junior guards Marcus Dockery (13.3 ppg, 16 made three-point field goals) and Bryce Harris (16.2 ppg, 6.8 rpg, eight total blocks), sophomore forward Shy Odom (11.2 ppg, 5.7 rpg, team-leading 17 total assists, seven total steals and six total blocks) and graduate forward Seth Towns (13.0 ppg, 6.7 rpg, 53-percent from three-point land).

MOUNT ST. MARY'S

Mount St. Mary's (1-3 overall) is coming off a 68-65 road setback to American Wednesday (Nov. 22). The Mount was led by senior guard Dakota Leffew (20 points), freshman guard De'Shayne Montgomery (14 points) and junior forward Joey Cordilia (13 points).

Leffew (12.0 ppg), Montgomery (10.3 ppg, six total steals) and senior guard Joshua Reaves (12 ppg) are the scoring leaders.

COACHES

Howard is led by Kenneth Blakeney (Duke University, '95), who is in his fifth season, while Dan Engelstad (St. Mary's College, '07) is in his sixth season at The Mount.

LAST TIMEOUT

The Bison are coming off a 67-61 setback at Bryant Monday (Nov. 20) in which they rallied from a 16-point second half deficit, using a 13-0 blitz to get within four with ample time remaining. But playing without two key players, Howard could not get over the hump.

Odom (Roxbury, Mass.) and Towns (Columbus, Ohio) each scored 16 points while Harris (Brentwood, N.Y.) contributed 11 points in the loss.

NEXT UP

Howard returns home for a contest against Big 12 opponent Cincinnati Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 7 p.m. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+.
