Men’s Basketball Goes to Bryant Monday

Bison look to get back in the win column against Bulldogs

Smithfield, R.I. (November 19, 2023) - The Howard University men's basketball team continues its early season road swing when it takes on Bryant University Monday (Nov. 20) inside the Chace Athletic Center. The tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Bison (2-3) are coming off an 85-63 road loss to Rutgers Saturday (Nov. 18). Junior guards Marcus Dockery (Washington) and Bryce Harris (Brentwood, N.Y.) led the way with 16 points and 12 points, respectively. Reserve graduate forward Seth Towns (Columbus, Ohio) contributed 10 points and five rebounds and graduate guard Jelani Williams (Washington) also came off the bench to tally seven points and six rebounds.
 
BRYANT
 
Bryant (2-3) is coming off a 61-52 road win at Florida Atlantic University Saturday (Nov. 18) that snapped a two-game losing streak. The Bulldogs were led graduate guard Sheriff Cross Bullock (19 points & 11 rebounds), senior guard Earl Timberlake (19 points) and junior guard Daniel Rivera (12 points).

HOWARD
 
Howard features a balanced attack of Harris (17.2 ppg, 6.6 rpg, & 7 blocks), Dockery (14.8 ppg, 3.5 rpg, & 9 assists), sophomore forward Shy Odom (10.2 ppg, 5.8 rpg, team-leading 16 assists, 6 steals & 5 blocks) and Towns (11.5 ppg, 5.5 rpg, & 50-percent from three-point land).
 
BRYANT
 
Bryant is led by Cross-Bullock (13.0 ppg & 6.3 rpg), Timberlake (11.5 ppg & 2.5 rpg), senior center Tyler Brelsford (9.5 ppg, 8.3 rpg & 5 blocks) and Rivera (7.8 ppg, 2.3 rpg, 16 assists & 5 steals).

Howard is playing without a number of reserves and it has affected its depth … In the loss at Rutgers, HU lost the battle of points-in-the-paint, 48-20, and had their turnovers converted into 23 points … Harris was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Week for his efforts, the first time he has been honored.

Timberlake and Cross-Bullock have strong ties to the DMV with Timberlake a former standout at DeMatha and Cross-Bullock playing his prep at Rock Creek Christian Academy … The two teams share common opponents, Boston University (BU) and Rutgers … Bryant lost to the Terriers, 95-79, in Boston and 66-57 at Rutgers … Howard defeated BU, 64-53, at home and lost at Rutgers, 85-63.
