Bison roll to 3-1 finish over Sacred Heart

WASHINGTON (October 8, 2023) - Howard University women's soccer (9-3-2, NEC 4-1-1) picked up its fourth road win of the season Sunday afternoon with a 3-1 victory over Sacred Heart University (3-7-4, NEC 2-3-1).

The Bison got straight to business, putting a shot on goal only a minute into the contest and forcing the keeper to jump for the save.

HU would go on to make two more attempts before junior midfielder Zoe Moore (Tampa, Fla.) put the Bison on the board at the 11-minute mark with the help of rookie standout Samantha James (Herndon, Va.), 1-0.

James continued to make her presence known when she connected with a pass from junior forward Kyra Bolden (McLean, Va.) for a comfortable 2-0 lead going into the half.

Yearning to join the Bison on the scoreboard, Sacred Heart set off four shots before finding its way into the goal at the 66th-minute mark.

Redshirt sophomore Rachel Suttle (Atlanta) got in on the action, netting the final blow just eight minutes later, 3-1.

The Bison are back on the pitch Thursday, October 12, at 7 p.m., when they face FDU in Teaneck, New Jersey.
