WASHINGTON (Oct. 7, 2023) – The Howard University women's volleyball team will face two teams over the course of three days. They play the Coppin State Eagles Sunday, Oct. 8, and the High Point Panthers Tuesday, Oct. 10.

MATCHUP PREVIEWS
HOWARD
HU (7-9, 3-1 MEAC) is fresh off a bounce-back win against Maryland Eastern Shore (UMES) where they defeated the Hawks, 3-0. They have started MEAC play in good form and have a great chance to continue that in Baltimore.
Graduate setter
Kayla Diaz (Rockland, N.Y.) is having one of her best seasons to date, ranking in the top 30 in the country in aces per set (.52) and total service aces (28). The New York native earned the top setter award last week, her third weekly award of the season.
Sophomore outside hitter
Rya McKinnon (Hoover, Ala.) continues to lead the team, along with the conference in multiple major statistical categories. She leads in kills per set (3.79), total points (242), points per set (4.25) and total kills (216), which she ranks in the top 50 in the nation.
COPPIN STATE
Coppin State (15-3, 5-0 MEAC) is looking formidable to begin the season, being undefeated in MEAC play and taking care of most of their nonconference opponents thus far. They lead the MEAC in eight categories including points, assists and kills.
Senior setter Andrea Tsvetanova (Sofia, Bulgaria) leads the conference in total assists (572) and lands in the top 50 in the NCAA in aces per set (.49), service aces (30) and assists.
HIGH POINT
The Panthers (9-3) have enjoyed a very successful start to their season, leading the Big South in hitting percentage (.218).
Senior outside hitter Dylan Maberry (Magnolia, Texas) leads her team to battle Tuesday, leading the Big South in kills per set (4.11), total points (267.5), points per set (4.69) and total kills (234).
LAST TIMEOUT
In their previous match, the Lady Bison took care of business at home, beating UMES, 3-0, in Burr. McKinnon finished with 14 kills, four digs and a pair of service aces in the win.
UPCOMING SCHEDULE
Following this stretch, Howard faces Norfolk State at home for senior night Friday, Oct. 13. Match time is set for 6 p.m. inside Burr Gymnasium.
